A Surefire Way to A Blooming Beautiful Life

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.”  Luther Burbank

As a child, I recall a large sunflower patch on the way to the city pool from my Oma’s (grandmother’s) house in Germany.  Sunflowers resemble people to me.

I find it interesting just how gently they turn to follow the sun.  Maybe that’s why I have a passion for sunflowers.  I too chase the sun.

If flowers truly are sunshine, food, and medicine for the soul, why don’t we surround ourselves with them more often?

In my early twenties, I lived in someone’s basement (illegally) for $425 a month.  This was a Long Island, New York single family home that was renovated to a three-family dwelling.  My space was the least attractive.  My rabbit, Charlotte, added life to my gloomy below ground level apartment.

There were three tiny, little windows to let in sunshine.  As a sun lover, you can imagine how depressing that was.  My income was limited as I was a recent college graduate and commuted into NYC for work.

One day, I decided I needed a little sunshine in my dark apartment (what could be considered a “tiny” home today).  I stopped by the florist on my walk home from the train station.  I bought myself some bright and cheerful gerbera daisies as they closely resemble sunflowers to me.  From that day on, once a week I bought myself a few flowers to fill a vase in my basement apartment.  Such a little thing made a world of difference.

When was the last time you treated yourself to flowers?  After treating yourself, may I inspire you to treat a BFF?

Cannot wait to hear from you.  Let me know what happens.
