Why You Never Have To Feel Guilty About Treating Yourself To A Massage Again

by Dec 10, 2017Fit

Do you sometimes find yourself feeling guilty when you want to book yourself in for a massage? Well, after reading this article, you’ll see how the power of touch transforms something like massage from a nice-to-have to an essential maintenance service (similar to getting regular oil changes in your car – lol).
Did you know that the human hands and feet are comprised of thousands of nerve endings? This means there is enormous healing energy in our hands and feet. A child who bumps their funny bone immediately grabs their elbow. This is an intuitive reaction. Having a trained therapist use their healing hands to move energy throughout your body not only feels wonderful (as we all know), but has many healing benefits.
Here’s some interesting data to prove it.
Mayo Clinic is known for their innovative research and holistic approach. The Clinic has released information showing the many benefits of massage: stress reduction, reduction of pain and muscle tension.
They also say that massage may be helpful for anxiety, digestive disorders, fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia related stress, myofascial pain syndrome, and soft tissue strains or injuries – and the list goes on. (Of course, Mayo is just one of the many sources of information promoting the benefits of massage I’m just a huge fan of Mayo as they saved my husband’s life eight years ago when he received his kidney and liver transplant).
As for me, I’m a movement specialist. Moving around all day is what I do. I teach yoga, Booty Barre, paddleboarding and SUP yoga. The other day, I walked full force into a curb with my left foot. The reverb was incredible. Within days, all my aches and pains started showing up. My left knee, my hips and eventually my belly were all affected. I knew I needed to book a massage. But do you know what? Regardless of whether you spend most of your day working with your body, or even if you haven’t had any mishaps with curbs, try to schedule treatments regularly.
A massage is one of the best gifts you can ever give yourself (and others) and you will reap the rewards for days to come. So what are you waiting for?
